The steel 06Ni9DR and other grades for medium plate ultra-low temperature-196℃ pressure-bearing equipment successfully passed the technical evaluation

Recently, the steel for four high-end pressure-bearing equipments of Jingyeyingkou medium plate 06Ni9DR, Q580R, Q580DR and 13MnNiMoR successfully passed technical evaluation and successfully obtained product production qualifications, further promoting the company's high-end steel development history.

China Special Equipment Inspection Institute (CSEI) is affiliated to the State Administration for Market Regulation and is a management unit for special equipment design, manufacturing and installation, inspection and testing in my country. For this review, China Special Inspection invited 11 experts from eight leading enterprises, including Hefei General Machinery Research Institute, China Petroleum and Chemical Engineering Construction Co., Ltd., Sinopec Guangzhou/Nanjing Engineering Co., Ltd., China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd., China Chengda Engineering Co., Ltd., Saiding Engineering Co., Ltd. and Dalian Jinzhou Heavy Machinery Group Co., Ltd., to form an evaluation team to carry out on-site evaluation work.

06Ni9DR (X7Ni9, SA-553MType I) is a highly technical product recognized by the industry, with high production difficulty and high profit margins. It is known as the "crown on steel plates" - it still has excellent comprehensive mechanical properties under ultra-low temperature environment of -196℃, and is mainly used in the construction of land-based and marine LNG (liquefied natural gas) storage tanks. In its research and development process, more than 10 technical problems such as ultra-low carbon smelting, ultra-pure steel control, 5mm limit specification rolling, and magnetic control must be overcome. The successful development of 06Ni9DR marks that the company's medium and thick plate production level has successfully entered the top ten in the domestic industry, and has strongly demonstrated the company's first-class full-process technical strength of medium and thick plates.

As a new star in the domestic steel industry in recent years, Q580R and Q580DR have the characteristics of high strength, high toughness and low temperature service. They have shown significant advantages in the development of green carbon saving such as weight reduction in pressure-bearing equipment and thinning of steel for thick-specification tanks. At present, the company has become the third company in the country to have the qualifications for producing this steel grade, and has won market opportunities and development space in the industry.
