steel, stainless steel rods or bars must contain more than 18% chromium and 8% nickel.

304 stainless steel, as one of the most commonly used types of stainless steel, is an outstanding material when it comes to corrosion resistance, heat resistance, low temperature strength and mechanical properties. In addition, it has exceptional hot-workability so it leaves no heat treatment hardening phenomenon.

304L stainless steel bar is used where welding is involved, as a variant of 304 stainless steel bar. The lower carbon content greatly lowers the precipitation of carbides in the heat-affected zone close to the weld, and such precipitation is likely to lead to intergranular corrosion of stainless steel in certain settings. Basically, their is no need to anneal weld joints prior to using the completed metal form using 304L, saving time and effort. As a matter of fact, both 304 and 304L stainless steel bars can be used for many of the same applications. The differences are often minor enough that one isn’t considered massively more useful over the other. 304L stainless steel bars are commonly used as manufacturing parts in fields such as food processing equipment, building materials, automobile parts.

316 stainless steel has extra 2-3% molybdenum, in addition to iron, chromium and nickel. Molybdenum significantly leads to better performance of 316 stainless steel in certain corrosive environments containing chlorides. So it is a very common choice in situations requiring higher corrosion resistance.

310S stainless steel has incredible oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance as an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel. Because of a higher percentage of chromium and nickel, so that it possesses better creep strength as well as high temperature resistance.
